A Final Toast to 2021
15-year anniversary
iBec Creative recently turned 15 years old, and it’s incredible to see all these candles. While so much has changed over the years, the core of our business has remained the same.
Relationships.
Some people have been here since the start of the iBec story, some just joined, and some (who we haven’t even met) will shape our next chapters.
Whether it’s our team, clients, or vendors, we’re all here to make good things happen. We’re passionate about our brands, our work, and our impact on the world. We’re grateful for all the people that fuel our purpose, and we’re ready for another year ahead.

We donated over $12,000 to nonprofit organizations including:
- Maine Immigrants’ Rights Coalition
- Habitat for Humanity

We provided over $36,000 of pro bono work including:
One of Maine’s best
Earlier this year, iBec Creative was ranked as #4 in the Small Company Category (15 to 49 U.S. Employees) in the 2021 list of Best Places to Work in Maine – a big jump from our #11 spot in 2020!
Proud certification
Becky McKinnell started iBec Creative the day after graduating from the University of Southern Maine in 2006 at 22 years old.
15 years later, iBec Creative was named as a Certified Woman Owned business.
The WBENC Certification is the most widely recognized and respected national certification for women-owned businesses in the U.S. and we’re so proud to celebrate this full-circle recognition alongside Becky.
505!
We have officially launched 505 websites since first opening our doors!
Our purpose has always been to help our clients thrive. It’s never felt so important in these past few challenging years as a strong online presence has become non-negotiable.

B Corp submission
We submitted our B Corp application for certification, and we’re waiting for the next steps.
While the application was a huge undertaking, we also did a lot more for B Corps in 2021:
Becky McKinnell was part of the Portland Regional Chamber (in partnership with Great Works Internet) panel discussion: GWI Presents: B Corporations — Business as a Force for Good alongside some local B Corp pioneers spearheading this movement here in Maine.
She also submitted a testimonial to the Maine Committee on Taxation, in support of LD 846 — An Act To Promote Benefit Corporations, the best way to magnify the tremendous work that’s being done by benefit corporations to positively impact Maine’s people, communities, and our environment. It passed.
iBec, along with other talented people, launched the Maine Certified B Corp website: mainebcorps.com to showcase the amazing work B Corps are doing in our state, and to provide ongoing resources to local entrepreneurs.
New faces
As we said before, this business is all about our people. We hired seven new employees this year (two are no longer here), and we’re grateful to work with so many incredible people on the best team around.

Riding waves
We took a boat cruise around Casco Bay at the end of the summer. It feels fitting as our last goodbye to 2021. We managed those waves, and we’re ready for 2022.
