iBec Makes The List: Best Places to Work in Maine 2022

Is it harder to stay on top than to make the climb?

Given that iBec was born the same year as the release of the first iPhone, you can imagine all the changes we’ve gone through over the past 16 years. Our secret to staying on top? Harboring a fun, positive work environment! Investing in our employees has paid off because, for the third year in a row, iBec Creative has made the list as one of the Best Places to Work in Maine! The list is compiled by the Maine State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management and ranks companies using information gathered from an employee satisfaction survey, employee benefits, and workplace policies.

That’s not all we’ve been up to. Among a handful of new website launches and fresh marketing campaigns over the past month, we’ve also been hard at work maintaining our B‑Corp status with plenty of volunteer time. Plus, nothing brings in fresh, new energy quite like rearranging your space! This past month we shuffled some desks and chairs around to focus our workspace on collaboration and community.

No “Failure to Launch” here: We’re approaching our 600th website!

Our designers and developers have been busy! We put out three shiny, brand-new websites this past month, bringing us from 590 to 593 websites launched.

Site launch 591: The Levee Biddeford

Port Property, a renowned property management business founded in Portland in 1993, broke ground on a new project in Biddeford: a riverside community on the end of a peninsula in the Saco River featuring residential buildings, boutique shops, and local dining.

We are excited to have partnered with them in constructing a website built to grow with their needs over time. From pre-leasing to actively renting units, their objectives will change with the stage of development that they are currently in. It was important for the website to be able to flex with their current goals.

While pre-leasing isn’t available quite yet, you can learn more about this exciting new community coming to Biddeford at https://theleveebiddeford.com/.

Site launch 592: Hayrunner

Through four core services: hourly handyman work, hourly design and planning, construction management, and real estate services, Hay Runner aims to simplify the lifecycle of home ownership through buying, fixing up, designing, building, maintaining, and selling.

iBec and Hay Runner partnered up to put together a website that not only educates people about their unique offerings but also makes it easy for prospective clients to book consultations.

Site launch 593: On The Pathway

The iBec team partnered with ‘On the Pathway to 100% Clean Energy’ to produce a website that informs people about their mission: to power Maine businesses with 100% clean energy.

‘On the Pathway to 100% Clean Energy’ is a business-led nonprofit project taking practical, cost-effective steps to support business owners in moving away from burning fossil fuels and transitioning their operations to clean energy.

You can view their website and learn more about their mission here: www.pathwaytocleanenergy.org.

One person’s trash is another person’s volunteer opportunity

Only when it doesn’t get properly disposed of, that is! Even before our B‑Corp days, iBec was passionate about volunteering our time. Especially when the impact of our efforts directly affects the environment around us. This month we took to the beach! With trash pickers IN hand and gloves ON hand, we had some friendly competition focused around who can pick up the most trash on East End Beach in Portland. The real winners? Anyone who uses East End Beach.

Achieving official B‑Corp status is no joke! To learn more about our journey to becoming a Certified B Corporation, visit our blog here.

Taking the stage

The Mainebiz Small Business Forum annually hosts a panel of small business owners and entrepreneurs to discuss a variety of challenges that small businesses and startups commonly face. At the end of August, Becky took to the stage to discuss the 2022 topic, “Navigating the labor shortage in Maine: How to recruit and retain great employees”

Becky proudly represented iBec Creative and put a spotlight on our company culture, as well as all the other things that make iBec so special. You can check out the other panelists and learn more about the event here.

Coming October 12th: iBec at the Maine Outdoor Economic Summit

Our time in the spotlight isn’t over! Several “iBeccians” will be taking the stage with Jesse Baines, the Chief Marketing Officer of Atlantic Sea Farms, to discuss the opportunities available to outdoor brands in marketing.

Through a review of the partnership that iBec Creative has shared with Atlantic Sea Farms, we’ll discuss our successes as well as our challenges. We’ll cover topics such as creating an initial ad strategy, how to optimize based on data, and new opportunities out there in the marketing world that are changing the game.

Join us on October 12th at Thompson’s Point! Learn more about the event here.
